Welcome to the American Institute of Korean Traditional Medicine!
Although Korean medicine shares the same roots as Chinese medicine, there were many domestic cultural, geographical, and intellectual influences throughout history that contributed to its present form. Most Oriental medical schools in the United States emphasize the predominantly Chinese influence on Oriental Medicine, even to the point of viewing the medical approaches of surrounding Asian countries as less significant. The Korean medical approach, however, offers a fresh perspective on the ancient theories of Yin Yang and Five Elements. In my student days, I had the opportunity of meeting and receiving treatment from a practitioner specializing in Korean Traditional Medicine, and since then not only has my overall health increased dramatically, but so did my interest in Oriental Medicine. I hope that by offering classes through the American Institute of Korean Traditional Medicine, the intrinsic beauty and effectiveness of Korean Medicine can be shared with you. -Gary Wagman, PhD, LAc
